My friend, Razz lives in near Sydney, Australia and writes a blog called “All The Dumb Things” . His life is worthy of a major motion picture.
Hollywood, are you listening? How many folks do you know have eaten dinner as a young boy with a woman whose paid job was to collect bull semen? One of the funniest posts I’ve ever read. Contact him directly, OK?
He loves the truth of sausages and has given his dinner guests and his readers a photo essay to prove it. I read it yesterday and immediately wanted to go out and buy his Weber Kettle grill but settled on sausages instead after I saw the price tag of the Kettle.
Barbecue grills come in colors now I found out and can cost 1,000 dollars. My favorite was an electric blue one. If I had some money instead of sausages, I would have bought it. This morning I noticed, though, that my sausage festival created two new pounds. Thanks, you Aussie bastard.
I love the truth of Queen Anne’s Lace . It is not fattening.
This bloom is right next to an overflowing trash can near a boat ramp to a local lake.
I have photographed them before, long after their blooms had gone: December.
It does not matter what state they are in, I find them beautiful and a perfect image for the “Art is Where You Find it” series. No one notices these blooms.
Families fish next to them. Town workers sip their morning coffee in their truck next to them. A solitary fisherman walks by them with his folding chair to get to the boat ramp.
I go looking for them but how many things do I pass by every day that deserve my attention?
Today, I am going to try and notice that which has been there all the time but gone unnoticed. I’m not stopping at the sausage aisle, I can tell you that.
Anyway, care to join me and report back?

beautiful photo — thanks
i love queen annes lace, always see them and think how fine they are. but, what i am noticing right now that ordinarily goes unnoticed, is the dust on the windowsill and the tshirt drawer all a jumble, oh well, it’s summer….think i’ll go out and notice some nature. wonderful post and photo, thanks
Thanks for the shout.
……..
Lovely photograph,
as we have come to expect.
You inspire us all.
Weird. I was actually going to post a photo of Queen Anne’s Lace today. Decided to go with cacti for some reason.
Anyway, there’s this homeless man I see all the time (at the 7-11, hanging at the playground, etc.). I just noticed yesterday that he’s missing the index finger on his left hand. Strange. I’ve seen him countless times and finally noticed this fact. Maybe his mother told him one too many times not to point at strangers. Wait, that sounds like my mother . . .
Okay, today you made me snort. It’s just lucky that I didn’t have anything in my mouth at the time. I second the fact that the bull’s semen collector is one of Razz’s more unusual posts, justifiably worthy of another snort or two, but when you talk about YOUR sausage festival creating 2 new pounds, I really lost it. It’s interesting to see how easily we can influence each other in spite of being so many miles apart – and all this because Razz has a kettle grill. Snort again. Snort.
