As some of you know, I restore old photos through new digital techniques. Always in search of new mediums to enhance my client’s photos (and mine), I’ve begun learning encaustic photography. Thinking that this ancient medium (beeswax) would combine well with vintage photos restored with 2015 digital techniques, I began. Well, not so fast. Here’s one of my attempts with a photo of my father from 1939. I call it “Fail Better” for a reason. The quote from Samuel Beckett is the best thing for any artist.
“Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try Again. Fail again. Fail better.”
