I read an article about a Memorial Day parade in Beverly, Mass that was cancelled because there were too few WWII veterans able to march. I must have read this article wrong as surely there are veterans from Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, still able to march? Whatever the truth behind this cancellation, we are all in varying degrees of falling over. Next year, perhaps Beverly can have a Parade of Iris’ instead. They bloom and die every year, all within a few weeks, right around the time of Memorial Day.
