Liar! Liar! Speech on Fire. Followed by “Yes, he did.”
I would have set the speech on fire, page by page, behind his orange helmet and requested to be considered for the Nobel Peace Prize.
Now, THAT might be questionable behavior. Maybe the critics who are outraged at Nancy Pelosi quietly tearing up his speech might have blown both their brain cells with that move, however. Obviously, She doesn’t know her place?
Well, I’d say no one knows their place more: The Speaker of the House is her place.
The President of the United States had just lied, postured, and preened his way through 90 minutes of what was supposed to be a state of the union address.
“I don’t what kind of speech it was but it wasn’t a state of the union address. It was more “a state of his mind” address.”
Nancy Pelosi
She had his speech right from the beginning when he handed it to her and then turned away from the customary handshake, and her outstretched hand.
No shaking of her hand for this big bad boy. He’s not grasping the hand of someone who signed his articles of impeachment and who appears to be the only one he can’t humiliate. I guess her critics would call this move of his, “classy”?
He wants and has tried to humiliate her yet she doesn’t seem to ever get properly humiliated which well, just infuriates him more. You can almost seem the steam curling his mullet.
She just comments, “I pray for him” and that sends him into as my gramma used to say “a tizzy.” Using one’s faith falsely, he says. He’s the expert on faith matters.
She acknowledges the truth of this man in ways that are straight forward obvious and hard to mischaracterize.
After one meeting where he lost his composure and temper, she simply acknowledged,
“A temper tantrum by the president. I’m a mother of five, grandmother of nine. I know a temper tantrum when I see one.”
Nancy Pelosi
Oh, yes, she drives him crazy. And, she can steal his spotlight as few others can. Which, really is THE issue. We are talking about Nancy Pelosi shredding his speech not him.
She had the entire speech before he opened his mouth.
Do you know what would have been mildly inappropriate and unprofessional?
Had I been Speaker of the House, I would have taken out my Dad’s old Zippo lighter and set the damn thing on fire, page by page, midway through the evening and blew the smoke into that smiling sycophant of a VP’s face.
Maybe firemen would have been needed to come in with axes and hoses.
A “manifesto of mistruths” deserves to be in the ash heap of history. I would have just hurried it along.
Now, THAT would be questionable behavior. Sean Hannity could call it tasteless and have some ground to stand on, for once.
But, tearing it up after the speech concluded and putting the pieces quietly and neatly in a folder?
Elegance.
And courageous?
Mitt Romney’s asking the question and then answering:
The grave question the Constitution tasks senators to answer is whether the President committed an act so extreme and egregious that it rises to the level of a “high crime and misdemeanor.”
Yes, he did.
Mitt Romney 2/5/20
I voted for him when he was Governor of Massachusetts and then didn’t recognize him as the same man when he ran for President of the United States. I think he’s found his way back to himself. This took courage. It is a nasty pot he’s stirred and he knows it.
