Morning

Seriously.  It’s Day Three of Countdown to 2009.  (Read HERE for details)

I woke up this morning and said, “What day is it?”  Holidays screw me up.  It’s Sunday.  I have till Thursday, at 12:01 AM to get me future carcass into gear.

I think things are moving somewhere.  Yesterday, I made 15 new cards from stock I ordered before Christmas.  One of my favorites is this one.  5X7 card, warm white, deckled edges stock, with nothing written inside.  The photo is printed on satin (is there such a thing as a matte gloss) paper and is 3.5X4.5.

These  are way past bloom.  By months, not days.  It’s winter.  They are like me except their lighting is better and they don’t have to figure out what to do with their life.

  1. I can see why you take these shots, as they are gently picturesque and I’m sure they are commercially viable but I have to admit that I prefer your “action” shots. Your photos that show some passing of time seem to hold more content for me.

  2. Oh, I know what you mean, Razz. The motion shots have an energy that I envy actually. It makes me happy that I can create it in an image, if not in life! Anyway, these reeds, or Queen Anne’s Lace as I know now, are special to me because they are totally overlooked as a subject. And, each day, it is sort of like stretching exercises before you go for a long run (Ha! Not that I ever did that!)…I go and try to pay them some attention. Like Willy Loman, Razz, attention must be paid. I’m not kidding, either. I feel a strange kinship with their daily presence and yet invisibility to most visitors to the pond. We’ll let Sigmund Freud fill in the details.

  3. I really like the lighting in this photo, Pat. The gentle purples and blues in the background, with the grey with a wisp of brown in the fore. Beautiful.

Freud would probably say something totally inappropriate about your QA’sL obsession . . .
