If I were a thief with a gym membership I know just where I’d go.
At the bottom of my street is a small business that many kitchen contractors use for their custom kitchen counter tops.
These are slabs of granite lined up outside in a rack without a gate or a tarpaulin thrown over them. They just stand there, out in the elements 24/7, orderly like…(Order is the theme for this week’s SAPCC) and it’s a double meaning too, for in fact, these slabs have also been ordered and are awaiting to be cut.
Which one would you like me to pick up for you when I can bench press a ton?
Right now I’m working on the 2 and half pound weights. You might have to wait a bit. But, I’ll go in the “order” that I receive your requests.

Here are the other participants in the SAPCC:
Haha! I want one for my future house. Very orderly indeed. The colors and textures make an instant paint palat (sp?) very nice.
omg pat theres a place down here in dennis exactly like that and a friend and i went out there in the snow to take pictures. great minds think alike i guess ha ha
So, how large & heavy are those slabs? Maybe I can come help you. I love that they are “orderly” & “ordered.” Super fun play on words. The textures & colors are great & the snow is a nice touch.
I could make an analogy about the angle at which they lean resembling a house of cards, and this represents the luxury touch going into all the over-financed and over-built homes in our housing bubble.
Or I could say our American halcyon days are past and the symbols of prosperity are left in an unlocked lot, free to be weathered by the snow and ice.
Nah. I’ll let it go.
And a few of those slabs are hideous. Blech!
Renee, I’m leaning toward the yellow and gray slab on the far right. How about you? Which one do you want for your future house?
Tipota! I’m happy to be in such creative company! That is sorta of an amazing coincidence.
Conni, I think a fellow conspirator would be fun, particularly you!
Mt. Brooks, Jeesh, man, that bile is rising! We couldn’t have had more polar opposite responses. I was actually happy to see that they had work! And, that the someone who owned a house was feeling confident enough in the future to spend some money. Blech is a funny word.
Bench press a ton. How funny you are.
But wait, these remind me of the pavers we just laid in. I’ll do it.
Send for me! I’ll come and pick them up.
Meet me at the airport with some Advil and a roast chicken.
My former office lobby on Broadway had enormous walls made of beige granite which I’d stare at while waiting for the elevator. It was more alluring to gaze at than were the morning faces of the future inhabitants of the elevators.
I was always intrigued by the patterns, the colors and the skill of the craftsmen who had to figure out how to match the patterns into a symmetry of design.
Bonnie, I used to do those Nautilus machines until I blew out a rotator cuff in my shoulder. Then, the other shoulder went for some unexplainable reason (I love it when the docs say “age is a factor”. Three surgeries later, with two gimp shoulders I think this may be a long wait for the perfect heist!
What is the deal with these granite salesmen! There is one near my house that does the same thing. How do they not loose there backside in product?? Very nice take on order, and I would like to place mine. I’m thinking 1st on the left or the dark one in the middle.
Sorry for my lateness on my comment, Vegas has taken every open eye moment available. Now I’m off to ogle the 700 other posts your done since this one!
Russ, I noticed when I went by today that there is a fence around it! But, seriously, what kind of burgular crew could lift these suckers? Hey, only 699 posts since this one, I’m having major computer issues…
