“Tulip Mania”is a financial term due to a 17th century escalation of the price of tulip bulbs in Holland that ended up collapsing suddenly. Experts debate the actual event but it is said that the prices on tulip bulbs at their height in March of 1637 exceeded the price of a average skilled craftsman by 10 times.
At this time of year, I have my own “tulip mania”. This one I bought in a bunch at Whole Foods in Bellingham, Mass for $10. My manias are getting cheaper as I get older.
